According to McKinsey, the agriculture sector makes 23% of Africa’s GDP. The continent’s food and agriculture exports are worth between 35 and 40 B$ a year and approximately, 80% of Africa’s agricultural exports go to regions severely affected by the Covid 19.

Restrictions on trade, disrupted supply chains and locusts’ invasions are threatening food security, the agribusiness industry and export earnings in Africa. African governments can implement dedicated measures to mitigate the risks while fostering the development of better integrated regional markets.
