The shutdown of Silicon Valley Bank due to inadequate liquidity and insolvency has raised concerns as to how African start-ups will be exposed to funding. According to Gbite Oduneye, General Partner at ODBA, the risk of contagion and the impact on African startups is likely to be low. Yet, considering the role the bank has played in the technology start-up world and the place of choice it had for some startups and venture capitalists in the Valley, the ripple effect of African startups funding remains to be seen on the long run.
