UNECA:COVID-19 could push 29 million Africans into extreme poverty

According to the UNECA, Africa is witnessing the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis that might lead to a growth slowdown by 1.8% to 2.6% and could push 29 million people into extreme poverty.

The pandemic has already cost some 69 billion dollars per month and is expected to have a negative impact on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the region.
