The number of coronavirus cases in Africa has climbed over 200,000 according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. The death toll has now stood at 5,334, while 85,068 patients have recovered.
North Africa recorded 56,300 cases, Southern Africa 53,700 (of which South Africa alone carried 50,900), West Africa 42,400, East 22,700 and Central Africa 20,700. Egypt suffered the most fatalities with 1,300, Algeria 715, Morocco 208.
