After running for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council, the DRC has decided to withdraw in favor of Gabon. President Félix Tshisekedi has decided to retract his bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council, a seat reserved for Central Africa from 2022. The dispute between the DRC and Gabon was at the heart of the tête-à-tête between leaders from the two countries the day after the extraordinary summit of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) on the situation in Chad.
