South Africa’s president has described the just concluded African leaders’ peace mission to Ukraine and Russia as historic, saying Africa wants to see the 16-month-long conflict resolved. One of the key achievements of the peace mission was the positive reception the African leaders received from both sides. The peace delegation included the head of the African Union and the presidents of several countries (South Africa, Senegal, Zambia, Comoros…). The leaders presented a 10-point proposal they believe can contribute to bringing the conflict to an end and recommended allowing Russian and Ukrainian grains to traverse the Black Sea to reach global markets.
