The state of public finances was awaited in Senegal. Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko presented the conclusions of the ‘in-depth diagnostic’ work requested by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye after his inauguration in April. The rampant borrowing policy (pursued under President Macky Sall) allegedly led to the non-transparent use of resources, contributing to widespread corruption. The Prime Minister accuses former authorities of lying and falsifying figures, particularly to international partners, for example regarding the debt.
