Press Releases

In the framework of efforts to develop a pool of highly-skilled, qualified talent in service to Casablanca’s financial sector, on Saturday February 26,2022 Casablanca Finance City hosted the finals of the 2022 CFA Institute Research Challenge Morocco.
The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute is the global association of investment professionals, a body that establishes industry-wide standards in terms of professional excellence. CFA is an internationally-recognised resource at the core of the financial community.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global, annual competition between teams of students, based on the preparation of an investment proposal. Students are tested on their capacities for research, analysis, and valuation of a company listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange, and the presentation of their report before a jury of investment professionals.

Al Akhawayn University placed first in this edition of the 2022 CFA Research Challenge, and the winning students have qualified for the MENA regional finals where they will compete against teams from Bahrain, Qatar, Egypt, UAE, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
For the national finals, competing alongside Al Akhawayn University were the Ecole Nationale des Sciences Appliquées (ENSA) in Agadir, the Ecole Nationale de Commerce et de Gestion (ENCG) in El Jadida, and the Institut Supérieur de Commerce et d’Administration des Entreprises (ISCAE) in Casablanca.

In its role as a financial centre, CFC encourages and provides support for these actions, which are designed to consolidate the knowledge and skills of local students enrolled in the areas of finance and investment. The objective is to position Casablanca as a hub of excellence and a reference in terms of financial careers. Similarly, CFC will fund registration and testing fees for the CFA programme, for Level 1 students of the winning team.

“As a CFA Institute partner since 2019, CFC is pleased to sponsor and welcome this 2022 CFA Institute Research Challenge Morocco. The presence of a pool of qualified talents is one of the pillars of an international finance centre. The participation of so many young people marks a confirmed interest in the pursuit of a career in finance, and this will enrich our financial axis”, affirmed Saïd Ibrahimi, CEO of Casablanca Finance City.

“The CFA Institute Research Challenge highlights not only the knowledge and skills of these future investment professionals, but also their commitment to ethical and professional behaviour based on principles that are essential to build a better world for investors. Despite the challenges imposed by the pandemic, all of these students have demonstrated an incredible level of resilience and perseverance. It is reassuring to witness the next generation of investment professionals in Morocco, and to know that the future of our industry is in good hands”, declared William Tohme, senior regional head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa at CFA Institute.
