World Bank announces new grant of $1.5 billion to Angola

The World Bank announced a new disbursement of 1.5 billion U.S. dollars to Angola. The grant, available from January 2022, will benefit the water, agriculture, and other infrastructure sectors of the southern African country, said Hafez Ghanem, vice president of the World Bank for the Eastern and Southern Africa Region. Concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, Ghanem said the World Bank will continue to provide full support to Angola to acquire vaccines for its population. The World Bank official has been in Angola to assess and strengthen the partnership of the Bretton Woods institutions with the government of Angola.
