Kenya’s opposition leader calls off anti-government protests

The decision comes after a three-day intensive push by religious leaders, civil society, and the international community to put an end to the two-week protests. The call shocked many protesters that had planned to continue with the weekly demonstrations.  It paves the way for a bipartisan approach to address issues raised by the opposition leader. More specifically, the president and the opposition agreed that the cost of living is a crucial factor that needs urgent attention.
